Room for Shakespeare publishing in the present day
by Gregory Anthony Bittar
Consider Shakespeare’s plays and the competing claims of those who work with them.
Here is a lens. Sometimes opera companies, hoping to attract a ready audience, employ Broadway directors with modern production values.
Lighting, staging, casting, costumes, music, text, and choreography all live on the same street but walk past each other every day; an Esso gas station can live over a faithful orchestra and not know they are in the same production.
In what room can Shakespeare grow? In what medium can alignment remain? Comic books? Audiobooks? What about books?
